Many Injured As Church Building Collapses In Delta State

No fewer than 10 persons were feared k*lled, and several injured after the Salvation Ministry Church building at Okpanam community in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State collapsed on Tuesday evening.

Witnesses said that unknown number of worshippers were trapped under the waste of the collapsed building.

The Punch Allegedly that the building, which was being used for the first time, collapsed at about 5.55pm during a Tuesday’s evening service.
About 8 members were said to have been rescued unhurt in the collapsed building while 4 others with nursing degrees of injury were allegedly taken to the Asaba Specialist Hospital for medical attention.
Worshippers, family members and sympathisers were spotted crying just as efforts were being made to rescue other trapped victims.

As of the time of filing this report, the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Patrick Ukah; the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Ononye Mordi; a team of the Red Cross officials and some firefighters to stop the Fire Service were on ground on a rescue mission.
